New Fairfield and Candlewood Lake Living
New Fairfield, Connecticut, is a somewhat small gem of a lake town located in Fairfield County. Spanning 25.1 miles and with a population of 14,000, New Fairfield is just 50 miles from New York City. Bordering the towns of Westport, Trumbull, Easton and Bridgeport, New Fairfield is part of what is referred to as The Gold Coast of Connecticut.
The five towns in The Gold Coast all sit along the edge of beautiful Candlewood Lake, which is the largest lake in the state providing residents with approximately 60 miles of shoreline. While Squantz Pond, Ball Pond and Margerie Reservoir can also be found in New Fairfield, Candlewood Lake is dominant on the Eastern side of the area. In fact, this bedroom community is clearly defined by Candlewood Lake. The Lake continues to flow both North and South, extending beyond the town borders.
